Employee Assistance Counselor / Substance Abuse Specialist

The Faculty/Staff Assistance Program, the University of Illinois’ internally-based employee assistance program, has an opening for an employee assistance counselor with a subspecialty in addictive disorders.
The primary responsibilities will be to provide comprehensive assessment, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and referral and linkage for a diverse employee population which includes faculty, academic professionals, staff employees, retirees and members of their household. The successful candidate will be proficient in making diagnoses of both addictive and general behavioral disorders. Demonstrated abilities in a leadership role are required to work collaboratively with administrators and supervisors in addressing substance abuse concerns in the workplace. Required Qualifications:
- A licensed clinical psychologist or licensed counseling psychologist, or a masters degree in social work or psychology with LCSW or LCPC licensing or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of clinical experience with at least three of those years in a substance abuse setting with expertise in dual diagnosis treatment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to promote the FSAP through awareness building and outreach programs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in an employee assistance program in a university environment.
